Ever hear the joke that goes "What do you get if you cross a Bulldog with a Shi-Tsu?" We can't tell you the punch line, because this is a family website, but something new really has hit the dog breeding world. They are called "designer dogs" and they are crosses between some of the most popular small breeds. For example, cross a Schnauser with a Poodle and the puppies are "Schnoodles!"

We happen to love Yorkshire Terriers and Maltese, and have a beautiful Maltese bitch named Chloe and a male Yorkie named Basil. When we heard about this new phenomenon, we decided to give it a try. (Well, OK, actually we just let our dogs do what comes naturally!) The puppies, named Solomon and Sheba turned out to combine all of the best of both breeds, and everyone fell in love with them instantly. They are shown in the first photo.

Cut to Thanksgiving 2005, and our second litter arrived. Amy (the female) and Bubbles (the male) are now a couple of months old and are even more fun than our first two. Amy is very petite at just about two pounds, and will probably top out at four or five. But she is a ball of energy, and more fun than a barrel of monkeys. Bubbles is about two and a half pounds, and will probably top out at seven or eight. He is the sweetest most affectionate puppy I have ever seen. Let him get near your face and he will kiss you to death. Both are pictured here.
