Doug Thornton - Mini Resume
My education includes studies at the University of Chicago, Illinois IInstitute of Technology, and Midwest College of Engineering. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Prior to starting Robles del Mar, my career includes the following accomplishments:
- At Ampex Corporation (Redwood City, California) designed and developed the first computerized quality monitoring system for audio tape duplication, and designed a state-of-the-art audio mastering facility, including proprietary digital recording level monitors.
- At Manitou Systems, Inc. (Bensonville Illinois) designed, developed and released to production a computerized cost accounting system, used by large consulting and legal firms to track client charges.
- At Intel Corporation (Santa Clara, California) managed the development of large custom computer memory systems for mainframe computers, and led a team that put into place the overall development methodology for system development.
- At CMX Orrox Corporation (Santa Clara, California) led the technical development of a next-generation computerized video editing system, which was shown at the National Association of Broadcasters Convention less than two years after the project was started.
- At Wiltron Company (Morgan Hill California - a division of Anritsu Corporation of Tokyo) was principal developer of two new microwave measurement instruments. After completion of the second project, now known as "Signature" I moved into a Marketing role, supporting the introduction of the product with multimedia and training material I developed.
- As a part-time Instructor at the University of California, Santa Cruz, I developed and taught classes on Real-Time Embedded System development, as well as operating systems and hardware interface/driver software design.
