Design and Consulting Capabilities at Robles del Mar

Hello! I'm Doug Thornton, principal and owner of Robles del Mar. I have over 30 years of experience in computer software and hardware development, project management, as well as media production, audio/video engineering, and CAD based product design. Mini-resume I'd like to tell you how we can provide unique solutions to problems in a number of areas. You may notice that we do work in some seemingly unrelated fields, but actually there is an underlying commonality to all of what we do.

For many years I worked in a number of positions in the"high tech" field designing and managing projects to develop some very exotic and by the way, very successful, products. What I learned during that time was that the real key to the success of a project is the system design, that is the quality or robustness of the basic concept behind the product. When I left the corporate world a few years ago, I decided that we would work only on projects where we have the necessary expertise, but also can put this philosophy to practical use. When we take on a project at Robles del Mar, we spend time understanding the requirements from the user's perspective, and then we do a design reflecting those needs. Finally we build the actual product, based on that design, and test it to make sure it performs as intended. We are finished only when our client is satisfied with the results.

A few words about our facilities. We have a well equipped model shop (see photo) in which we construct prototype products such as speaker systems and workstations. Our computer facilities include five state of the art PC workstations equipped for such tasks as software and web development, CAD graphics design and video postproduction.
